It is a miserable condition. By keeping in view this fact, the US government starts a special program Alaska Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, infants, and children to help those women, infants and children who are at nutritional risk.
What is WIC
WIC is a special program that offers essential supplement, nutritious food, lectures and leaflet of health care to pregnant women, nursing women and postpartum belonging to a low-income family. - Diet based risk
This type of nutritional risk means a person not taking proper diet. In other words, if women, Infants, and children have a lack of proper diet, not taking sufficient diet and suffered from the deficiency of iron, vitamin, and calcium etc. Then they are considered at diet based nutritional risk.
Are You Eligible?
Following is the required criteria for an applicant who wants to be a part of the Alaska Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children.
- Applicant must be a permanent resident of Alaska State or any state under the control of the US government.
- Applicant pregnant, nursing, postpartum women, toddlers, and children must belong to Lower family having low income.
- Applicant must be at nutritional risk.

Any pregnant, postpartum, breastfeeding women, Infants, and Children (up to five years old) are eligible for taking benefits of the Alaska Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children who declare as at Nutritional Risk by a professional physician. Professional doctors are also available at WIC clinic to check the applicant if the applicant is at nutritional risk or not. If applicants are not declared as at nutritional risk then they are not eligible for taking the benefits of Alaska Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children.
How To Apply?
The applicant has to make contact with Alaska Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children clinic nearer to their resident. The applicant has to download the application form, fill it correctly and submit it online or to the WIC clinic. Then the applicant receives a call or WIC assistance will inform them about their appointment or meeting. Along with some necessary documents, the applicant must appear in front of WIC officers for meeting. Meeting may be on phone, online or face to face. WIC officer will ask a question about applicant family background and other information which was written on the application form by the applicant.
