Kansas Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)

What You Need To Know

The Kansas Department for Children and Families is responsible for providing help to households with low income through their Kansas Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). People coming from underprivileged backgrounds who cannot pay their household energy cost are eligible to apply for the program. The program ensures assistance to people by paying their home energy and heating bills who are living under a certain poverty level determined by the federal government.

Program Objectives

The main objective of the program is helping people from underprivileged backgrounds with low-incomes by paying their utility expenses so they can afford necessities of life. Through the program, people can afford to keep their power on during cold winters in Indiana as well as hot summers in the state. The benefits are provided once every year to the eligible candidates.

LIHEAP Services

The Kansas Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) provides various services to people from low-income household including

  • Permanent citizen or legal alien of US
  • a permanent and legal resident of the state of Kansas
