What Do You Need To Know?

The Wyoming Low Income Energy Assistance Program provides aid to families in paying their utility payments that belong to poor households. The program is funded by the federal government as a block grant program. Through the LIEAP program, poor households can keep their houses cool and warm according to the season without having to worry about the utility expense. It has been observed that people belonging to underprivileged households resort to harmful methods to keep their houses cool or warm. The program also provides emergency assistance through its Crisis Management payments. Candidates can receive the Crisis Assistance payments in situations which are,

  • life-threatening
  • when there is a fuel shortage or in case of power cut off
  • when there is a heating failure in the household during winters

What is the program objectives?

The goal of the Wyoming Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP) is to improve the living conditions of people from poor households in the state. There are certain eligibility criteria the households have to fulfill to be able to receive the program benefits.

Through the LIEAP program, poor households can keep their houses cool and warm according to the season without having to worry about the utility expense. The main objective of the LIEAP program is to provide safe living conditions to underprivileged people coming from low or very low-income brackets.

The selected households and individuals who meet the eligibility criteria are provided with a credit payment directly applied to their utility expenses per month.

There Wyoming Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP) provides various services to people from low-income household including

  • Energy-related home repair assistance
  • Weatherproofing of the house
  • Assistance at times of emergency energy need

Are You Eligible?

To be eligible for the Wyoming LIEAP program it is important for the applicant to be a permanent resident or a legal alien. It is also important to have permanent citizenship of the state of Wyoming. The applicant must need assistance in paying their utility bills.

The candidate’s eligibility is assessed on two important factors

  •  The candidate’s annual gross income of the household
  •  The total number of members in the household

If there are more than 8 members in the house than an extra amount of $1513 is added for each additional member. Therefore, check with local agencies for accurate information about the LIEAP program.

Other important requirements for the Wyoming Low Income Energy Assistance Program are,

  • Utility bill’s copies
  • Proof of your income ( recent pay stubs, payroll slip, salary slip)
  • Social Security Number (SNN) of every household member
  • Copy of driver’s license
  • Copies of any termination notice if you have received one from your energy service provider.
  • Child support proof
