What Do You Need To Know?

As the Ohio Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) is operational since 1968, the main aim of SFSP is to remain helpful to those School going Children who are unable to receive good and healthy food or might be having free or cheap price food. This Summer Food Service program is beneficial for the children’s because it provides child-friendly meals to the age of 18 years old. All the meals are free for children without any registrations form. If we talk about the sponsors of this program then it is sponsored by the (CAC) Community Action Committee of Pike Country. The month of this program is mid of the June to mid of the august.

 

What Do You Need To Know?

 

It was observed that if the children’s having insufficient and less nutritious food for a long time, then they can suffer from long term health complications that include bones weakness and digestion problems in later years. It can also lead to other problems like energy imbalance, Obesity, etc.

 

The SFSP help these poor children just to maintain their healthy diet. Not only this SFSP always remain helpful for these poor children’s families and support them so, that they can give their children some extra food dollars especially in the months of summer. Because it was observed that a number of students have a prevalence of reduced food after their School duration. Ohio Summer Food Service programs held at many places that include parks, churches, community centers, schools, authorized houses, one-day summer camp, and playgrounds. Because of most of the time Summer Food, The service program is associated with learning, playing and also the entertaining exercises.

 

Are You Eligible?

 

  • The children’s between the ages of 1 to 18 are highly recommended to obtain nutritious food through this program during the summer.
  • Those people who are between the age of 19 and 21 are also eligible for this program but only if they have any disabilities that relate to physical and mental.
  • The person should be a public being (Public Park & public school etc.)
  • The applicant must be the nearer residential of the school.
  • The applicant should have to sign the agreement of the summer food service program.
  • They should have to attend all the workshops held by sponsor on food service program, distribution and also recordkeeping.
  • The member should have to return back the counter sheet of meal to the sponsor regularly.

 

How many foods received by participant per day?

 

Eligible children and people can get food twice a day. It would be breakfast or might be a lunch for each day. But those children who are migrant can get a meal for three times every day.

All the nutritious food are given below that are provided by this food service program

 

  • Milk
  • Peanut Butter
  • Beans
  • Eggs
  • Fresh Fruits
  • Green vegetables
  • Meat

 

 

Who Administers This Program?

 

This program is administered by an agency of the US Department of Agriculture. SFSP is usually held by sponsors that mainly include local government agencies, NGOs (non-governmental organizations),

 

As SFSP is one of the great federal resources, so there is a good suggestion for all included school food authorities that they should have to take part and participate with Summer Food Service Program to inform the eligible families and children for the availability of nutritious meals without any cost.
