Alabama ALL Kids-Children’s Health Insurance Program

What You Need To Know

Alabama ALL Kids-Children’s Health Insurance is a low-cost health insurance program initiated by the state of Alabama for children under 19 years of age. The benefit program provides healthcare coverage to the teenagers of Alabama to help them stay healthy with regular medical checkups and getting the necessary medical treatments when they are sick or got injured.

Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH) manages the ALL Kids-Children’s Health Insurance Program and the eligibility criterion is set for the families 300% lower than the Federal Poverty Level. There are various health care plans, some of which includes co-payments or families can opt for income-based premiums. The eligibility slots and plans have been designed in a way that everyone with various income levels can afford the healthcare benefits, no matter what they are earning and their current financial situation.

The ALL Kids program is offered in collaboration with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama (BCBSAL) and children are provided medical care through preferred provider network from the first date of the month when the application is approved. Amongst the various benefits the Alabama ALL Kids-Children’s Health Insurance program includes, here are some:

  • Dental care
  • Eyecare
  • Prescriptions
  • Hospitalization
  • Mental health
  • And substance abuse services

Is Your Child Eligible?

Alabama ALL Kids-Children’s Health Insurance program has been set up for uninsured children below the age of 19. These children belong to families whose income is higher than the Medicaid eligibility set level, but are lower than 300% of the Federal Poverty Level.

Children must be:

  • Under the age of 19
  • S. citizen or eligible immigrant
  • Not be covered by other insurance
  • Not covered by Medicaid

For verification purposes, that the child is eligible for the program, the annual household income of the family is considered. The annual earnings before any tax deductions need to be in line with the set guidelines. Therefore, the income of the family must be either less than or equal to the following amounts. The table outlines the annual figures as well as the household size associated with it.

Households may contain more than eight members. An additional amount of $13,251 is added per person if family size is more than eight.

How To Apply?

A person can apply for Alabama ALL Kids-Children’s Health Insurance program through various channels. The application can either be submitted to an online portal, through fax or through a print form. The variety of these channels ensures that interested individuals carry out their procedure in the most suitable method. They can choose the one that proves most helpful for them and accordingly process the application form.

  • Families can submit the application through an online portal. It is available in an easy format and should take less than an hour to fill and submit. You must be provided with the necessary information before starting to fill the application. You must pen down the accurate date of birth of the child with SSN. You are also required to provide the information about the current insurance coverage if any.

Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH) has also provided an online form to submit your inquiry through email.
