How Does It Work?

The Connecticut Energy Assistance Program works in collaboration with various public and private non-profit organizations throughout the state. The program does not pay the whole heating bill but half of it and the other half is paid by the family themselves. This helps the households to lessen the burden of their gas and heating bills during winters. The heating bills that the program pays can include sources such as kerosene, oil, electricity, natural gas, coal, and wood. The Connecticut Energy Assistance Program provides supports in terms of:

  • any kind of  energy-related home repair assistance
  • Weatherproofing of the house

Program Goals

The main goal of the Connecticut Energy Assistance Program (CEAP) is t provide help with the heating bills of families coming from an underprivileged background.  It is difficult for such households to make ends meet. The selected household is given assistance with their utility bills in order to alleviate any health and safety-related problems. The purpose of CEAP is to keep the household safe from any dangerous circumstances like fire, eviction or any other life-threatening illness that might happen due to poor heating conditions of the house.
