Program Overview
The Colorado Child Health Plan Plus (CHP+) or CHIP provides affordable health insurance to children of poor families that are residing in the state of Colorado. There are thousands of children who are uninsured and this program provides them with an opportunity to get medical insurance and improve their health conditions. Kids who are dependent on their parents and are less than 18 years of age are eligible to apply for this program. In some cases, the program might also provide health insurance to uninsured parents as well. The program is known as the Children Health Insurance Program in some states.
The families whose income is 200 percent below the FDL (Federal Poverty Level) can apply for the Colorado CHIP benefits. Some children who are availing private health insurance may also be eligible to apply for the South Dakota CHIP if the private health coverage does not provide some of the medical services.
